THE National Capital Region’s (NCR’s) positivity rate has decreased to 10 percent over the past seven days, signifying a downward trend in the number of cases in the region, according to an independent research group.
In its May 27 update, OCTA Research said that while the current positivity rate remained “acceptable”, it is still not within the five percent threshold set by the World Health Organization to allow further reopening of economic sectors.
The positivity rate in the region has also decreased slightly to 0.52 over the past week.
NCR’s seven-day average has decreased further to 23 percent to 1,023 cases per day, pushing the average daily attack rate (ADAR) to 7.41 cases per 100,000 population, placing the region under moderate risk.
The NCR has an average 42 percent occupancy rate for all available Covid-19 beds.
Within the Bubble, the cities of Pasig, Muntinlupa, Calamba, Imus and Dasmarinas have experienced a slow down in their weekly growth rates while Malabon and Caloocan have the lowest recorded ADAR per 100,000 population at 3.57 and 4.89 cases respectively.
Dasmarinas City in Cavite is the only area in the NCR-plus bubble area with a hospital occupancy rate of 77 percent.
Outside the NCR-plus area, Zamboanga City still posts high daily new cases but the trend has started to decrease. One week growth rates were observed in Davao City, Puerto Princesa City, General Santos City, Butuan City, and Cebu City.
Zamboanga, Iloilo, Baguio, Butuan, and San Fernando, Pampanga have recorded 70 percent hospital occupancy rates.
